World of easy candy recipes. Includes
traditional candy (fudge, brittle, pralines, bon bons) and everyday candy recipes.
Welcome to World of Easy
Recipes. This site has 1000s of simple recipes using everyday
ingredients. Most of the recipes have been collected for
many years from friends and my co-workers. For many years
I have always been interested in collecting recipes and recipe
books. The recipes listed in this site are the best of the
best of my collection.
ROCK CANDY
2-1/2 c. sugar
1 c. water
1-1/2 c. white Karo syrup
1 tsp. oil flavoring
1 tsp. food coloring (your choice of colors)
Combine first 3 ingredients together in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Cook to 300 degrees
for hard crack. Remove from heat and add coloring and oil flavoring. Pour in cookie sheet
sprinkled with powdered sugar. After it is hard, sprinkle more sugar on candy. Then break
in pieces. (Oil flavorings are spearmint, cinnamon, anise, wintergreen, peppermint.)
PECAN PRALINES
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. pecan halves
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. butter
Use large pot to prevent boil overs. Stir buttermilk, sugar, and baking soda together
until the sugar is completely dissolved. Place pot on low to medium on stove and boil
until mixture is in soft ball stage. Stir constantly. Mixture will turn light brownish.
When soft ball stage is reached (it will form a soft ball when a half-teaspoon or so of
the syrup is dropped into a cup of cold water), remove the pot from the heat. Add two cups
of pecan halves, butter, and vanilla. Beat mixture briskly until it becomes glossy and
starts to thicken. Quickly spoon it onto greased waxed paper making little patties. Let
the candy cool completely before removing it from the paper.
OLD FASHIONED FUDGE
2 c. sugar
1/3 c. corn syrup
3/4 c. milk
2 sq. chocolate
Stir all together and boil slowly until it forms a soft ball when tried in cold water.
Move from fire and set in pan of cold water so as to cool more quickly, and beat until it
becomes thick and creamy. Then turn out on buttered platter. This may be varied by adding
chopped nut meats or marshmallows cut in squares before turning out.
